About College

Nagpur veterinary College was established on 1st July 1958. Late Hon'ble Shri Y. B. Chavan, the then Chief Minister of the Govt. Bombay inaugurated this college in the convocation Hall of Nagpur University. The college was named Nagpur Veterinary College, on a similar line to Bombay Veterinary College. In the year 1969 Maharashtra Agricultural University was established and this college become the constituent college of Agricultural University Rahuri and later on of Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. After the establishment of Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur on 3rd December 2000, this college become a constituent college of this University. Regular Post Graduate teaching program M.V.Sc. was introduced in the year 1972 in Clinical and Production subjects. At present PG. Programme is operated in 15 disciplines with an intake capacity of 2 students in each discipline.

Nagpur Veterinary College Veterinary Counseling is conducted by

1 ) Veterinary Council of India (VCI) - Open to all (15%)

The  Veterinary Council of India (VCI) conducts Counseling for allotment of B.V.Sc. & A.H. seats to the NEET UG eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Veterinary Colleges of the country. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET UG conducted by National TestingAgency (NTA) including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The  Veterinary Council of India will use the merit list of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG)-2022 (NEET (UG)-2022) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for filling up 15% of seats in the recognized Veterinary Colleges under the All India Quota. Other criteria of selection and admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. Degree course shall be as per Veterinary Council of India - MSVE, Degree Course (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) Regulations, 2016.

RESERVATION OF SEATS  (15% Quota 

  • 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates
  • 7.5% of seats are reserved for ST candidates
  • 10% of seats are reserved for EWS candidates
  • 27% of seats are reserved for OBC candidates (Non-Creamy Layer)
  • 5% seats in each category are reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates as defined in physical disability in the MSVE -Degree Course (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) Regulations, 2016 on a horizontal basis.

Counseling for Allotment of 15% VCI Seats

The online counseling for allotment of 15% VCI seats for the academic year 2022-23 will be held in four stages [ Round -1, Round -2, Mop-up Round, and Stray Round]. The counseling will be done based on NEET (UG) 2022-23 ranking and through the VCI Counseling portal. All banking-related matters will be dealt  by the Bank of Baroda. The seat will be allotted in the colleges based on the availability of seats, his/her NEET Rank, and the choice exercised by the candidates subject to fulfillment of other criteria viz. nationality, age, essential qualification, etc. as laid down in this Information Bulletin. 2) Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU)- State Domicile - 85%

The  Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU)conducts Counseling for the allotment of 85% of  B.V.Sc. & A.H. seats. The allotment is done based on Merit in NEET-UG duly following the Presidential Order & Rule of the reservation. The candidate shall apply online, pay the fees, fill up the application form and uploads the desired documents on or before the last date of submission of the application form. Candidates will receive updates on their respective mobile phones and emails, based on the admission process by the University. However, the candidates shall visit the website (www.mafsu.ac.in)  for updates during the whole procedure of admission.  They should not remain dependent on mobile phone messages and email.

  • 30% of seats shall be reserved for female candidates from unreserved as well as reserved categories.

  • 2% seats shall be reserved for Special Backward  Class (SBC) candidates and will be filled during the second round  of admission

First Round of admission

  1. The candidates shall read the admission process carefully as stated in the prospectus.
  2. The candidate shall apply online, pay the fees, fill up the application form and uploads the desired documents on or before the last date of submission of the application form.
  3. Before submission of the application form, the candidate should ensure that the documents are correctly uploaded and readable. Application forms completed in all respect and received online on or before the last date of submission of the application form shall only be considered for admission.
  4. In case any candidate submits more than one application form, the latest filled-in application form complete in all respects will only be considered.
  5. Application forms will be primarily scrutinized and the list of candidates with deficient or wrong documents will be displayed on the website. 
  6. Candidate should note that it is essential for him/her to log in for submission of the options form/preference form for every round of admission. Otherwise, he/she shall not be considered for admission during that round.

 After receiving the option/preference form, the allocation list will be displayed on the website (i.e.www.mafsu.ac.in) and the intimation regarding the same shall be sent to the candidates on their mobile phone & email address. The allotment letter shall be generated for those candidates who have been allotted seats. The candidate shall personally visit the allotted college along with the printout of the allotment letter, all original documents, and admission fees to confirm his/her admission within a stipulated period of time.

In case, if any candidate does not report to the college to confirm the seat during the first round then the next candidate from the waiting list of the respective category shall be allotted the seats as per merit.

  • Once the seat is allotted as per the candidate’s first preference for Region/State Quota Round and the candidate does not report to college within the stipulated period of time mentioned in the allotment letter, his/her candidature will be canceled for the next rounds.
  • Whereas, if the seat is allotted as per the candidate’s second preference and onwards and the candidate does not report to the college, his/her candidature will be considered for the next rounds of admission based on vacancies.

Candidate shall be admitted provisionally till he/she registers him/herself in the concerned college where the seat is allotted.

Candidate, who is admitted but fails to register/join the  College within the period given by the competent authority or cancels the admission after joining, will not be eligible for admission during the subsequent round.

Although the category claimed by the candidate is given to him/her in the Final Merit List during the course of physical verification of the original certificates and documents, if it is noticed that the certificate /document is invalid, then he/she shall not be entitled to the admission during that round. In such case, the University may work out the revised merit position of the applicant and will amend the final merit list accordingly and the said applicant shall be considered eligible for admission as per his revised merit in the next round of admission.

The admissions to various seats under the Regional (R) and State (S) Quota shall be final and once the candidate is admitted he/she will not be eligible for a change of College or Quota.

Second Round of admission

The seats remaining vacant after the first round of Regional as well as State quota admission will be filled in during the second round as per the following stepwise procedure -

  • Step I- Filling of vacant seats separately in reserve and unreserved categories as per vacancy position.
  • Step II- Conversion of female seats to male seats separately (if the female candidate of a particular category is not available) in the reserve / unreserved category.
  • Step III   -  Conversion of horizontal reservations into respective reserves & unreserved categories.
  • Step  IV  -  Filling of vacant seats in reserve categories   (if any)  by  SBC candidates (Max.2%).
  • Step V - Filling of remaining vacant seats by interse within reserve categories.
  • Step VI   -  After filling the vacant seats step  I  to  Step  V  if there are any vacancies that will be filled in by Common State merit interse.

Note: After completion of all steps  I  to VI,  the allotment list shall be generated for the second round of admission.

Third Round of admission 

The seats remaining vacant after the second round of Regional as well as State quota admission will be combined and filled in during the third round. In case, if any candidate does not report to college to confirm the seat during the third round then the next candidate from the waiting list of the respective category shall be allotted the seat as per merit.

Special Round of admission-

 The seats remaining vacant after the third round of admission will be filled in during the special admission round. In case of any resultant vacancy, the seats will be filled in by candidates as per merit from that respective category.

  1. The student who secures admission for the degree course shall have to submit proof of his/her Aadhar Card, Bank Account details, and  Voter Card to the office of the associate dean of the respective college.
  2. The candidate admitted under this University shall abide by the rules and regulations of this University and changes made therein from time to time.
  3. Any issue, not mentioned in the prospectus shall be decided by the Competent Authority of the admission, which shall be final and binding.
  4. Any candidate if found obstructing the admission process, trying to influence in an unlawful manner, and/or creating nuisance shall be liable for disqualification from the admission process. The decision taken by the Competent Authority in this respect shall be final and binding.
  5. All the admissions shall be deemed provisional and subject to further scrutiny and verification if required. Admission shall be liable for cancellation at any stage during the course study of the student, if it is found that the admission was contrary to the rules or invalid by reason of incorrect or false information furnished by the applicant or parents/guardians at the time of admission. Any such cancellation of admission may lead to penal action.

University Quota seats - 70% seats of the University quota at each constituent college will be filled in as regional quota (R-quota) as per the regional merit list while the remaining 30% of the seats of total intake capacity shall be filled as state quota (S-quota) as per common state merit list prepared by the University.

VCI Quota seats - 15% of the total intake capacity of each Veterinary College shall be filled in by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI), New Delhi through its independent admission procedure.

J & K and Ladakh UT Quota seats - One seat over and above the intake capacity at each Veterinary College shall be filled from the wards of citizens displaced due to terrorist activities from Jammu & Kashmir Union Territories and Ladakh Union Territories and also from the wards of officers belonging to Indian Administrative Services, Indian Police Services and other officers and staff belonging to military and paramilitary forces transferred to Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Union Territories.

Goa Quota seats - Five seats over and above the intake capacity at Mumbai Veterinary College, Mumbai; Four seats at KNP College of  Veterinary Science, Shirwal and Two seats at  College of Veterinary and Animal Science, Parbhani for B. V. Sc. & A.H. Degree Course are reserved for Goa State candidates. However, the admission shall be made only on the basis of his / her merit in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG-2022) conducted by the NationalTesting Agency, New Delhi. The candidate shall have to apply online for admission and take printout of the application form. The candidate shall then send the hard copy (printout) of the application form along with self-attested copies of all required documents to the Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Pashusamvardhan Bhavan, Patto, Panaji, Goa - 403 001 which will verify the candidature and communicate to the University.

NRI/FN/PIO/OCI Quota seats - Total of 10 seats over and above the intake capacity of B. V. Sc. & A.H. Degree Course are reserved for NRI/FN/PIO/OCI candidates.
