Veterinary College, Bangalore was inaugurated on 25th July 1958, by the then Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri. B.D.Jatti and started functioning at Mysore serum institute, now called the Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals (IAH & VB). The present college campus, located in the 196 acres plot was inaugurated by His Highness the Maharaja Shri Jaya Chamarajendra Wodeyar, the Governor of Karnataka, on 6th January 1962 and the same was then affiliated to Mysore University, Mysore. In 2004, after the establishment of Karnataka Veterinary Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU), the college has become part of the Veterinary University.   The College celebrated its golden jubilee year from September 2007 to August 2008. The main focus of this college is teaching, research, and extension. The college has nineteen well-equipped departments with highly qualified and skilled staff involved in offering BVSc & AH programs as per Veterinary Council of India regulations.  The college is also involved in offering Masters's and Doctoral programs in seventeen and fourteen disciplines respectively.  Besides the college has a well-equipped hospital at Hebbal and Yelahanka with state of an art facility for teaching, and research as well as for serving the farming community.

Admission Process

Veterinary College, Bangalore Veterinary Counseling is conducted by

1 ) Veterinary Council of India (VCI) - Open to all (15%)

The  Veterinary Council of India (VCI) conducts Counseling for allotment of B.V.Sc. & A.H. seats to the NEET UG eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Veterinary Colleges of the country. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET UG conducted by National TestingAgency (NTA) including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The  Veterinary Council of India will use the merit list of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG)-2022 (NEET (UG)-2022) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for filling up 15% of seats in the recognized Veterinary Colleges under the All India Quota. Other criteria of selection and admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. Degree course shall be as per Veterinary Council of India - MSVE, Degree Course (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) Regulations, 2016.

RESERVATION OF SEATS  (15% Quota 

  • 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates
  • 7.5% of seats are reserved for ST candidates
  • 10% of seats are reserved for EWS candidates
  • 27% of seats are reserved for OBC candidates (Non-Creamy Layer)
  • 5% seats in each category are reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates as defined in physical disability in the MSVE -Degree Course (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) Regulations, 2016 on a horizontal basis.

Counseling for Allotment of 15% VCI Seats

The online counseling for allotment of 15% VCI seats for the academic year 2022-23 will be held in four stages [ Round -1, Round -2, Mop-up Round, and Stray Round]. The counseling will be done based on NEET (UG) 

2022-23 ranking and through the VCI Counseling portal. All banking-related matters will be dealt  by the Bank of Baroda. The seat will be allotted in the colleges based on the availability of seats, his/her NEET Rank, and the choice exercised by the candidates subject to fulfillment of other criteria viz. nationality, age, essential qualification, etc. as laid down in this Information Bulletin. 2)  Karnataka Examination Authority  - State Domicile - 85%

The  Karnataka Examination Authority conducts Counseling for the allotment of 85% of  B.V.Sc. & A.H. seats. For admission to the Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry course candidates who have obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects in the Qualifying Examination are eligible. (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates) Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects in the Common Entrance Test, the B.V.Sc. & A.H. rank list will be prepared and published for admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. courses.

The responsibility of KEA is limited to the conduct of counseling, which includes online registration, document verification, online counseling procedure, seat allotment, and the issue of admission orders as per Government Rules. 2.2 Candidates are advised to read the Information Bulletin carefully and go through the instructions regarding filling out online registration form given for CET-2022 on the KEA Website before starting the online registration process

  • Admission to Government seats shall be made in accordance with the Karnataka Selection of Candidates for Admission to Government Seats in Professional Educational Institutions Rules, 2006 (in short CET-2006 Admission Rules) as amended from time to time and therefore the details and instructions contained in this Information Bulletin are subject to the said Rules and Government orders. In case of any discrepancy, the Rules shall prevail.
  • As per the seat matrix issued by the Government, the seat allotment to the Professional courses will be done ONLINE in the order of merit/rank obtained in 2022 CET /as applicable, and based on the options entered by the candidates through the KEA Web-portal. 
  • Only upon verification of documents and possessing of verification slip, the candidate will be allowed to enter the options. Candidates can enter any number of options of their choice through the KEA Web- portal on their own arrangement. The candidate also has a provision to take a printout in each round. Every candidate shall be given a high-security user ID and Secret Key which the candidate then has to log in and change to the password as per his / her choice.
  •  Candidates are advised to verify and confirm that they are fulfilling any one of the Eligibility Clauses before applying for admission to Government seats in Professional Colleges in the state of Karnataka for the year 2022. For any reason, the fee paid by the candidates will not be refunded.
  •  The SC / ST/Category-I / 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B and other eligibility criteria are applicable to Karnataka candidates who are eligible to claim eligibility for Government seats under clauses (a), (b), (f), (h), (j), (k) (l) and (o) and the same is not applicable to eligibility clauses (c), (d), (e), (g), (i), (m) and (n) to claim Government Seats and Government quota seats as per the proviso of rule 9 (2) of CET-2006 Admission Rules.
  • Reservation of seats in certain categories such as Rural, Kannada, etc, and in Special Categories like NCC, Sports, etc are applicable only to Karnataka candidates who are eligible for Government seats and Government Quota seats (rule 5 of CET-2006 rules). 
  • The information furnished by the candidate in the CET-2022 online application form with regard to Caste / Category and Annual Income remains the same for the purpose of assignment of ranks/selection or allotment of a seat and no change will be entertained in the future for any reason
