Madras Veterinary College (MVC), established in 1903, started offering Diploma Courses in Veterinary Medicine. MVC has the unique privilege of being the first Veterinary College in the country to be affiliated with a University (University of Madras) for Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) as early as 1936 and later MVC was recognized as a Centre for PG Research to award MSc and Ph.D. degrees. In 1969, MVC was made the Directorate of Veterinary Education and Research. In 1974, this college was academically affiliated with Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and in 1976, it became a constituent college of TNAU. Since 1989, it has become the constituent college of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS).  The college has highly qualified and experienced faculty, excellent infrastructure facilities like smart classrooms with state-of-the-art education technology tools, a modern library, a Veterinary Clinical Complex with the latest diagnostic and treatment facilities of global standard, a separate hostel for boys, and girls, and for international students. Cafeteria, student co-operative stores, playground, Wi-fi connectivity, and internet kiosk are available at Madras Veterinary College. Apart from BVSc & AH, MVSc, and Ph.D. degree programs, MSc (Biotechnology), and PG Diploma, courses are also offered in this college.

Madras Veterinary College Veterinary Counseling is conducted by

1 ) Veterinary Council of India (VCI) - Open to all (15%)

The  Veterinary Council of India (VCI) conducts Counseling for allotment of B.V.Sc. & A.H. seats to the NEET UG eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Veterinary Colleges of the country. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET UG conducted by National TestingAgency (NTA) including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The  Veterinary Council of India will use the merit list of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG)-2022 (NEET (UG)-2022) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for filling up 15% of seats in the recognized Veterinary Colleges under the All India Quota. Other criteria of selection and admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. Degree course shall be as per Veterinary Council of India - MSVE, Degree Course (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) Regulations, 2016.

RESERVATION OF SEATS  (15% Quota 

  • 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates
  • 7.5% of seats are reserved for ST candidates
  • 10% of seats are reserved for EWS candidates
  • 27% of seats are reserved for OBC candidates (Non-Creamy Layer)
  • 5% seats in each category are reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates as defined in physical disability in the MSVE -Degree Course (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) Regulations, 2016 on a horizontal basis.

Counseling for Allotment of 15% VCI Seats

The online counseling for allotment of 15% VCI seats for the academic year 2022-23 will be held in four stages [ Round -1, Round -2, Mop-up Round, and Stray Round]. The counseling will be done based on NEET (UG) 2022-23 ranking and through the VCI Counseling portal. All banking-related matters will be dealt  by the Bank of Baroda. The seat will be allotted in the colleges based on the availability of seats, his/her NEET Rank, and the choice exercised by the candidates subject to fulfillment of other criteria viz. nationality, age, essential qualification, etc. as laid down in this Information Bulletin. 2) Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) - State Domicile - 85%

The Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS)  conducts Counseling for the allotment of 85% of  B.V.Sc. & A.H. seats. Online Counselling will be conducted on the basis of the order of merit, rules of reservation of the Government of Tamil Nadu, and preference opted by the candidate. The eligible candidates need to register for participation in online counseling.

ONLINE COUNSELLING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Counseling cut-off: The eligible cut-off will be displayed on the TANUVAS website before the start of counseling based on the vacancy position. Intimation will be sent to the eligible candidates through SMS and e-mail. Eligible candidates (based on the Counselling Cut-off marks) need to log in to the TANUVAS admission website (https://adm.tanuvas.ac.in) using their registered mobile number/e-mail ID.

2. Registration / Participation: The candidates should register for Online Counselling within the stipulated date and time mentioned in the Counselling schedule, failing which they will lose their chance of admission. Failure of participation of eligible candidates (as that of counseling cut-off)in the respective round of counseling, will not be considered for future rounds of counseling at any cost. 3. No Guarantee of Admission: Mere participation in the Online Counselling DOES NOT offer any guarantee for admission to BVSc & AH degree program.

4. Preference filling: The candidates who failed to register for online counseling WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR ADMISSION after that. The candidates need to select their preference of campus in BVSc & AH and preference of course discipline in case of BTech (first as most preferred and so on and last preferred). The campus (for BVSc & AH)  preference shall be made by the candidate only once for the counseling. The eligible candidates need to fill in all the preferences for the campus compulsorily.

5. Allotment: The candidates who are participating in the Online Counselling will be selected on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained (as mentioned in the Prospectus) by following the community reservation rules of the Tamil Nadu Government and also on the basis of the vacancy position available at the constituent colleges of the University and preference made by the candidate for the campus (BVSc & AH). If there is no vacancy in the first preferred campus, the second preferred college will be allotted, and so on, till all the seats are filled. The candidates should give an utmost care in offering their order of preference, as further modification in the preference is not possible at any cost.

IN-PERSON COUNSELLING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. The candidate should appear IN PERSON for counseling.
  2. The candidate should report at the Counselling venue one hour before the stipulated time mentioned in the Counselling call letter on the specified date.
  3. The candidate should register himself/herself for Counselling within the stipulated time. They need to be present in the Counselling hall and respond when their names are read out / called, failing which they will lose their chance of being selected.
  4. Mere calling for counseling does not offer any guarantee for admission to BVSc & AH degree program.
  5. The candidates who have been called for Counselling will be selected on the basis of the aggregate (cut-off) marks obtained by them (as mentioned in the Prospectus) and also on the basis of the vacancy position available at the constituent colleges of the University following the community reservation rules of Tamil Nadu Government.
  6. The candidate is also requested to bring the following original documents for the Counselling:
    1. Call letter for counseling
    2. HSC / Equivalent Course mark sheet
    3. 11thStd. mark sheet (for those who have passed 12th Std. in Tamil Nadu State Board from the year 2019)
    4. Nativity certificate (if applicable)
    5. Community certificate (obtained from the competent Revenue Authority).
    6. Transfer certificate
    7. Conduct certificate
    8. Relevant certificates for special categories (Differently abled / Sports Certificates as prescribed in the prospectus (if applicable)
    9. First graduate certificate (if applicable)
    10. Income certificate if the annual income is less than Rs.2.50lakh
    11. Bonafide Certificate/evidence for having joined another course (if applicable)
    12. One set of Xerox copies with all relevant certificates along with the Application Form
  7. If the candidate has already joined any other course, the candidate is advised not to obtain Transfer and Conduct Certificates from the Institution in which he/she is studying, as Counselling in this University does not offer any guarantee for selection. Hence, the evidence for having joined other courses should be produced at the time of Counselling.
  8. The selected candidate shall pay the  fees at the time of admission, provided he/she has all the original certificates
