College of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana was set up in 1969 as a constituent college of the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. With the formation of the new university, it became a part of the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in 2006. The college owns a well-established Livestock Farm Complex comprising of an elite dairy herd, a poultry farm, a goat farm, and a piggery unit. Multi-Speciality Veterinary Hospital caters to the need for large and small animal healthcare. The college has the distinction of having three Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Centers of Advance Faculty Training in Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, and Veterinary Pathology. The Bachelor of Veterinary Science (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) degree is designed to equip the graduates with the knowledge and skills essential for a career in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry as per Veterinary Council of India (VCI) norms. Successful completion of B.V.Sc. & A.H. program entitles the graduates to seek mandatory registration with Punjab State Veterinary Council/Veterinary Council of India as a Registered Veterinary Practitioner. The college is recognized by VCI and all the ongoing UG and PG programs in the college have been accredited by the ICAR with an ‘A’ grade.

Admission Process

College of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana Veterinary Counseling is conducted by

1 ) Veterinary Council of India (VCI) - Open to all (15%)

The  Veterinary Council of India (VCI) conducts Counseling for allotment of B.V.Sc. & A.H. seats to the NEET UG eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Veterinary Colleges of the country. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET UG conducted by National TestingAgency (NTA) including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The  Veterinary Council of India will use the merit list of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG)-2022 (NEET (UG)-2022) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for filling up 15% of seats in the recognized Veterinary Colleges under the All India Quota. Other criteria of selection and admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. Degree course shall be as per Veterinary Council of India - MSVE, Degree Course (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) Regulations, 2016.

RESERVATION OF SEATS  (15% Quota 

  • 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates
  • 7.5% of seats are reserved for ST candidates
  • 10% of seats are reserved for EWS candidates
  • 27% of seats are reserved for OBC candidates (Non-Creamy Layer)
  • 5% seats in each category are reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates as defined in physical disability in the MSVE -Degree Course (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) Regulations, 2016 on a horizontal basis.

Counseling for Allotment of 15% VCI Seats

The online counseling for allotment of 15% VCI seats for the academic year 2022-23 will be held in four stages [ Round -1, Round -2, Mop-up Round, and Stray Round]. The counseling will be done based on NEET (UG) 

2022-23 ranking and through the VCI Counseling portal. All banking-related matters will be dealt  by the Bank of Baroda. The seat will be allotted in the colleges based on the availability of seats, his/her NEET Rank, and the choice exercised by the candidates subject to fulfillment of other criteria viz. nationality, age, essential qualification, etc. as laid down in this Information Bulletin. 2) Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Ludhiana- State Domicile - 85%

The  Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Ludhiana conducts Counseling for the allotment of 85% of  B.V.Sc. & A.H. seats. Candidates securing equal to or more than the NEET (UG) - 2022 cut-off marks as per category, will be considered for admission. Candidates seeking admission under the Self-Financed category will have to fulfill the eligibility requirements of the General category specified during the admission process. NEET (UG) - 2022 cut-off marks for Self- The financed category may be specified separately during the admission process.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate should have a minimum qualification of 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English from a recognized Indian Board/University with at least 50% marks (47.5%for SC/ST, BC, and DP categories) in aggregate excluding the optional subject(s).
  • Candidates securing equal to or more than the NEET (UG) - 2022 cut-off marks as per category, will be considered for admission.
  • Candidates seeking admission under the Self-Financed category will have to fulfill the eligibility requirements of the General category specified during the admission process. NEET (UG) - 2022 cut-off marks for Self- The financed category may be specified separately during the admission process.
  • Breaking of Tie in the Merit List: “One candidate one rank” criteria of NEET (UG) - 2022 Merit List will be followed.

Admission Capacity& Distribution of Seats

  1. 75 seats for residents of Punjab State and Union Territory of Chandigarh
  2. 15 seats for candidates nominated by the VCI
  3. 10 self-financed seats for residents of Punjab State and Union Territory of Chandigarh.
  4. 01 additional seat for KashmiriMigrants (KM)
  5. NRI/OCI/Nominees from Foreign Countries against additional seats
  6. 01 additional seat for the wards of permanent employees (including those on probation) of GADVASU and currently in service/retirees/deceased provided the candidate fulfills the minimum eligibility requirements as of General Category candidates based on merit. However, no fee concession will be granted to the candidates securing admission under this category.
  7. The seats remaining vacant under reserved category(ies), if any, shall be offered to the candidates competing on open merit basis during 3rd counseling. However, in case no candidate has applied under a particular reserved category, these seats during 1st and /or 2nd counseling will be offered to candidates competing on open merit basis.
  8. Candidates from other states fulfilling the eligibility criteria, who have already applied or applied for SpecialCounseling/Mop-up Round(s)/Walk-in Interview, will be considered against remaining seats for admission under Self-Financed (COVS, Ludhiana)/ Category-II (COVS, Rampura Phul)/Special Management Quota (Khalsa College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences), only after the candidates from Punjab and UT Chandigarh.

Documents to be submitted at Counselling

  1. Self-attested copies of date of birth certificate, educational qualification certificates, and mark sheets issued by the recognized Board/University from 10th class onwards.
  2. Copy of Character Certificate from the institution last attended.
  3. Self-attested copy of rank/score achieved in NEET (UG) – 2022 / transcript of qualifying exam.
  4. Original certificate issued by the competent authority in support of the claim of belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) or Backward Class (BC) or to any other reserved category(ies), in which admission is sought, in the prescribed format (Annexure I-VI, IX).
  5. The candidates are required to furnish self-declaration (Annexure VII) and a copy of a self-attested Residence Certificate (Annexure VII A) as applicable as per instructions/ guidelines of the Punjab Government (Annexure-E).
  6. Income certificate for candidates under SC/ST category who claim fee concession and/or for claiming Post Matric Scholarship, whose annual family income is below Rs. 2.5 lakhs
  7. Income certificate for candidates under the BC category
  8. Income and assets certificate for candidates under the EWS category (Annexure XIII)
  9. Self-undertaking of the gap in the study period, if applicable(Annexure X).
  10. Undertaking regarding Anti-Ragging (Annexure XI- A, B).

Note:

  1. The eligibility under reserved category(ies) will be determined only on the basis of the option(s) claimed while submitting the online application form. The supporting document(s) in the prescribed format shall be produced at the time of counseling. Any claim for reservation at a later stage will not be entertained.
  2. Candidates must produce original documents before the Selection Committee at the time of Counselling [Refer Rule No. 9.1(xvi) of Chapter IX]

Note:

  3. While calculating reservations, a fraction of more than 0.50 will be taken as one seat.
