Agricultural College and Research Institute

Agricultural College was established at Madurai, in 1965. It remained affiliated to the University of Madras and came later under the aegis of Madurai Kamaraj University, in 1967. With the formation of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in 1971, the College became its constituent unit. Since then it has shown a steady progress, diversifying its research activities to meet the challenges of existing and up-coming problems of the farmers of southern districts of Tamil Nadu. It is located about 15Km on the north east of the Madurai city on the Madurai-Melur Road; and upgraded to the status of the Agricultural College and Research Institute, it has emerged as a strong centre for academic excellence,purposeful research and responsive extension education.
